PIBA was formed in 1995 and has quickly grown to become the largest representative body for insurance Brokers in Ireland. PIBA currently has a membership of over 900 Brokerage firms.
The organisation is run by a voluntary committee comprised of members who are voted upon annually at the PIBA AGM. The purpose of this is to sustain an objective and dynamic approach to issues affecting the industry and to facilitate new ideas/thinking.Its executive function is carried out by a Chief Executive and permanent staff, based in Cashel Business Centre, Crumlin.
One of the major achievements of PIBA is to instigate new agency agreements with some of the major life assurance companies in Ireland. These agreements have resulted in high standards and quality of business practice within the industry. This has benefited both Brokers and in turn their clients who can now be safe in the knowledge that a Broker's independence has been underscored and has not been compromised by thresholds or conditions set out by and Insurer.
The area of legislation and regulation continues to be the key priority of the Professional Insurance Brokers Association. PIBA endeavour to lobby on your behalf and bring relevant matters to your attention as they affect your business.
Perhaps the most exciting development within PIBA recently has been PIBA Mortgage Services. The main objective of this service was to help accentuate the independence of the Broker through the strength of PIBA as the largest representative body for Brokers.
