Updated Auto Rates Now Online

The Department of Insurance's rate comparison website allows Delawareans to compare auto and homeowner rates from more than 50 companies online. It has been recognized as one of the most comprehensive comparison tools in the country.

We've just finished the annual process of updating the auto insurance rates from the insurance companies and the new rates are online at http://compare.delawareinsurance.gov. Take a few minutes to compare rates and you'll see a significant difference among companies for the same policy. You could save hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year.

To contact me or my office anytime, please email me at Matthew.Denn@state.de.us, email my staff at consumer@state.de.us or call 1-800-282-8611. Thanks for stopping by.

Important Information For Insurance Companies Regarding Tax Filing

The Department of Insurance is partnering with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in the use of OPTins, a new online premium tax filing system. OPTins offers insurance companies the ability to submit their quarterly and annual premium tax filings and payments electronically.

Insurance company users need simply to log-in to OPTins, upload the state-specific, interactive premium tax forms, enter the premium tax and fees amount and click "Submit". It's that easy. Payment is securely transmitted to the State via EFT (electronic funds transfer), with immediate confirmation.

The use of OPTins is optional at this time, but the Department encourages all companies to use OPTins to electronically submit their Delaware premium tax forms and payments beginning with the third quarter 2008 premium tax installment due September 15th. Click here for more information.
